Pet(s) of the week...

Ruby

Ruby is a one year old Border Collie/Lab mix. She is a doll! In her one short year she has already had a litter of puppies and not had a lot of socialization with other dogs. Now that she is in foster, she knows for the first time what it is to just be a dog! She loves to run and play, but she is relatively mellow for a young Border Collie. She loves people and children, great with cats and once she gets to know other dogs she is great with them. Her only issues to work on would be introductions with other dogs. She is fearful at first and show aggressive signs when meeting them, but we have only been working on this with her for under a week now. In no time she be able to meet other dogs very easily, we are confident. She also has a tendancy to guard her food, not with people but with other animals. We are feeding her separately from the other animals she lives with now and there is no problems. But again, this can easily be resolved too. Ruby loves to snuggle and is super on a leash! She is the kind of dog that would LOVE to learn tricks if you have the time to teach her. She is already very good at sit and down. 'Stay' we are working on :] if you want to inquire about Ruby contact savethepetseugene@gmail.com

ALSEA - Adopted!!

Alsea is a female pitbull terrier mix. She is a medium sized young adult. She has been at Lane County Animal Shelter for quite some time and was just taken into foster. We hope to give her a shot at finding the family she is suppose to spend her life with. Could it be you?
For more information or to meet Alsea contact us at savethepetseugene@gmail.com or call 541 683-7387.

ZOE

Zoe is a very, very sweet girl that was recently taken into a foster home with Save the Pets. We hope she will be able to get a little bit more attention now - and hopefully find a forever home soon. Zoe is much more than just a 'little black dog' (please note that black pets unfortunately have the lowest adoption rates)! She has been to adoption events and is well-loved by the volunteers.

Zoe is a young adult, mixed breed. She looks to be part Boston Terrier, Boxer, or AmStaff. She has plenty of energy and is playful. When she is taken out of her kennel she is ecstatic, excited, and energetic! But, after the initial excitement, she calms down and is a total cuddle-bug! She loves to sit on laps, be hugged, and snuggle with you. When you pet her she looks like she will fall asleep.

Zoe already knows 'sit' and 'lay down', and she's definitely responsive especially with treat rewards. Email us for more details savethepetseugene@gmail.com or call 541 683-PETS.

I have had the pleasure of hanging out with Desmond several times during adoption events. I must say I am in LOVE with this boy-he is the sweetest guy on the planet. I would take him in a heart beat if my male dog liked other males. Godspeed Desmond, I hope you find the best home ever!

I can vouch for Jameson as I'm the Foster-Mom. He is a big goof-ball, very happy, extremely sweet and loving. He thinks he's a lap dog and loves a good cuddle. He lives with three other dogs and 10+ cats and in three weeks, we haven't had a problem at all. Jameson is also very well behaved, knows commands like "No" and "sit". He is fully housebroken as well. You won't find a more loyal, affectionate friend than Jameson. We would keep him ourselves if we could!

It's really unfortunate that black pets are adopted so much less frequently than other colored pets http://thepetwiki.com/wiki/Black_Pet_Syndrome Hope you are able to get these cuties adopted easily!
